Day One. April Fools!

It has long been my dream to grown fresh veggies at home.
After years of marginal success in containers, I'm taking the leap into hydroponics with The Tower Garden.

If it works as advertised, it will be the painless, un-back-breaking, low impact way to garden.
What better day to start - April Fools, 2013.
Here goes!

The box just fit in the back of my PriusC with the seats folded down.

Everything was beautifully and efficiently packed.

The tower elements were nested together.

Instructions and starting seeds were included.

I left everything in the box for now except the germinating kit, which I extracted to plant the seeds.

Note- it comes with a sump pump and timer.

The Tower included the seeds above.

Of course, no project goes unnoticed by Squeaky - who wanted to get into the picture.

I stopped at Home Depot on the way home and picked up a few more packs of seeds.

My friend Wendy, who helped me buy the tower, also gave me some great seeds.

I planted the seeds in the hydrated media provided with the tower and covered them with provided vermiculite. As I planted each vegetable, I charted the seeds so I know in what order to plant the tower when they sprout. Heavier and larger plants will go on the bottom.
